About
Termagant. Southland’s Satyrs of Satire.
Goonbag and Hooch simply adore Murihiku (southern New Zealand). They are inspired by the people, the critters, the heritage, and the natural poetry of the landscape - from the tallest pointy places to the moistest wavy spots, and all that green stuff in between. The band’s personal history is somewhat complicated.
The short version is that Goonbag and Hooch were born after an unfortunate accident at the circus, and were found as infants wandering through the vast and misty rose gardens at Queens Park, Invercargill.

Their rescuers, Karen and Ray Turm-O’Gant, legally adopted the boys and raised them in the Irish Quarter of central Tuatapere. Here Karen and Ray first encouraged the boy’s love of gospel music through an annual play-through of a single 12” Rick Astley record. It’s true, Termagant is never gonna give you up. XXOO
